What is Ivermectin-Pyrantel - Generic to Heartgard Plus?

Iverhart Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) Flavored Chewables given monthly protects your dog from heartworm disease and treats and controls roundworms and hookworms. This flavored chewable is tasty and safe even in puppies as young as 6 weeks. With this affordable heartworm prevention, provide year-round protection to your dog.

Ivermectin/Pyrantel is a #1 generic equivalent to Heartgard Plus, and requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It has the same active ingredients and is the same strength.

For:

Dogs (6 weeks of age or older and no weight requirement)

Cautions:

For oral use in dogs only. All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before starting a preventive program. Tell your veterinarian if your pet has ever had an allergic reaction to the medication. Can cause sensitivities in herding dog breeds. Don't give your pet Ivermectin/Pyrantel if already giving a different heartworm medication. The safe use of this drug has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating bitches.

What happens if I miss giving a dose:

Give the missed dose as soon as possible. Do not give a double dose of the medication.

Possible side effects of Ivermectin/Pyrantel:

Side effects of Ivermectin/Pyrantel are rare, but may include: Depression/lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, mydriasis, ataxia, staggering, convulsions and hypersalivation. Side effects of Ivermectin/Pyrantel are rare at the recommended heartworm prevention dose.

Storage:

Should be stored at room temperature.

Directions:

Give Ivermectin/Pyrantel as directed by your veterinarian. Do not remove the tablet from its wrapper until ready to give to your pet. Ivermectin/Pyrantel Flavored Chewables can be given by hand, mixing the whole tablet with a small amount of food, or placed in the back of your dog's mouth. Watch your dog closely to be sure the entire dose has been swallowed. If it is not completely swallowed, give one more full recommended dose as soon as possible.
