Numelvi® (atinvicitinib tablets) is a second-generation Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor for the control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs 6 months of age and older. Numelvi relieves itch from allergic dermatitis while simplifying treatment for dogs, their owners, and veterinarians.
Allergic dermatitis is an abnormal reaction of the immune system to different substances that is associated with itch and skin inflammation. There are four types of Allergic Dermatitis. The first is "Atopic dermatitis which is caused by environmental allergen absorption, such as pollens, house dust mites, danders, and molds. Second, Flea Allergy Dermatitis, which is caused by proteins and other substances associated with flea saliva. Third, Cutaneous Adverse Food reactions which are initiated by the ingestion of dietary proteins, like beef, chicken, wheat and dairy. Fourth, things like insect bites and contact with other stimuli.
Atinvicitinib
Possible adverse reactions include, Vomiting or nausea, Otitis externa, Hematuria (without urinary tract infection), Anorexia, Bacterial skin infection, Diarrhea, Crystalluria, Lethargy, and Urinary tract infections. Dogs should be monitored for the development of infections because Numelvi may increase susceptibility to opportunistic infections, including demodicosis and interdigital furunculosis. You should report any unusual symptoms to your veterinarian right away.
The effectiveness and safety of Numelvi have not been evaluated in a field study beyond 28 days. The safe use of Numelvi has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. Decreased mean testes weight was observed in a laboratory safety study. The safe use of Numelvi has not been evaluated in combination with glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive agents.
Numelvi tablets should be stored at 15 to 30°C (59 to 86°F).
Numelvi should be administered orally, once daily, at a dose of 0.36 to 0.54 mg atinvicitinib/lb (0.8 to 1.2 mg atinvicitinib/kg) body weight. Always follow the directions provided by your veterinarian for your specific dog. Numelvi should be administered with food.

While its not approved by the FDA for cats, it is commonly prescribed by veterinarians to treat cats. Cyclosporine requires a prescription from your veterinarian.
Atopica for Cats is an oral solution used to control feline allergic dermatitis (allergic skin disease) as seen as broken skin, including facial and neck. Signs of allergic skin disease include itching, chewing, licking, skin lesions and hair loss. Some cats may develop lesions that may even appear on the face and neck. Atopica requires a prescription from your veterinarian.
